BEL Nasal Spray is a treatment for biotoxin illness. MARCoNS (mulitiple antibiotic resistant coagulase negative staphylococci) is an antibiotic resistant staph infection that resides deep within the sinus cavity in patients suffering from biotoxin illness/CIRS. These resistant bacteria form biofilm that makes it hard for many antibiotics to penetrate. A combintaion of ingredients is required to both disrupt the biofilm and eradicate the infection.
BEL nasal spray is an effective way to eradicate colonization of biofilm-forming MARCoNS in the sinus cavity. BEL nasal spray’s active ingredients are a combination of two antibiotics (Bactroban, Levofloxacin) and the calcium chelator EDTA. The EDTA dissolves the biofilm coating, clearing the way for a direct attack by the topical antibiotics.
The first combination nasal spray used by Dr. Shoemaker for treating mold related CIRS was a bactroban, EDTA, gentamicin nasal spray. Doctors have since started to use variations on this original formula, especially by changing the antibiotic or adding additional ingredients. The antifungal medication itraconazole is sometimes added to BEL nasal spray.
