Kaiser Mouthwash
Hydrocortisone, Tetracycline, Nystatin
Kaiser’s mouthwash is a particular formulation for use in treating stomatitis or mouth ulcers. While ingredients can vary, this is a common formulation for a 100mL bottle of Kaiser’s mouthwash:
Hydrocortisone – 46mg
Tetracycline 25mg/mL – 50mL
Nystatin 100,000 U/mL – 12mL
Purified water – q.s. to 100mL
Kaiser’s mouthwash contains a corticosteroid, an antibiotic, and an antifungal. It does not contain an antihistamine like diphenhydramine. Unlike some of the other mouthwashes we compound that we make with Maalox, Kaiser’s mouthwash is made with water.
This mouthwash is prescribed for different kinds of oral pain including ulcers. The ingredients work to both reduce inflammation and prevent infection.
